Jason studied the violin at the age of 8 with Julie Zhu. Completed ABRSM Grade 8 performance level in 2 years of learning the violin and won numerous violin competitions around Auckland. He later studied overseas with Professor Julian Quirit at the Melbourne Conservatory of Music and became the Concert Master of the Symphony Orchestra in high school. Jason later moved to Sydney to study with a Chinese violinist Zhu Wen at the Australian Institute of Music and graduated with Bachelor of Music in Performance and later Master of Music under Matthew Bruce, an Associate Concertmaster of the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra. After his graduation he continued his studies under Stephen Larsen, a violin pedagogue from Auckland University of Music.
Jason have shown enormous interest in music pedagogy to further assist him with his music teaching career in the future. His students achieved many National and International Gold awards for such as Gold and Silver prize for Prokofiev International Music Competition, First place for South Auckland Performing Arts Competition. His students also play in school string orchestras, symphony orchestras and have many performance experience to the public. Jason’s excellent achievement in teaching has gained him titles such “Outstanding Music Instructor Award” , “Senior Violin Teacher” of the Central Conservatory of Music.
