KAREN HOU
Karen has been studying the violin professionally under the guidance of the famous Chinese violinist at the Central University of Nationalities (Minzu University of China), Professor Jin Zaiqing, a member of the Music Examination Committee of the Chinese Musicians Association; a young violinist, and a solo performer from the Chinese Film Orchestra, Mrs Tian Xue. She has passed Grade 10 exams for Chinese Musicians Association and the Central Conservatory of Music with excellent results. During the period she won several major awards in the district and Beijing-level violin competitions; her performances were awarded instrumental music at the 12th Beijing Student Art Festival First prize competition. During junior and high school as the first violin member of the Jinfan Symphony Orchestra of Ritan Middle School, performing with the Jinfan Orchestra in the National Grand Theater, Zhongshan Concert Hall, Beijing Concert Hall and other places, and exchange activities in major music groups at home country and abroad. Since studying in New Zealand in 2013 she has kept her passion for music, actively participated in local performances, and served as the chief of the Chaozhou Art Association established by the Chaozhou General Association. As a violin teacher, Karen is responsible, sincere and patient, teaches students in accordance with their aptitude, and cultivates students’ interests.
