The licensed domestic operator is the permitted provider
Since 28 June 2025, the licensed domestic operator has been the only operator permitted to provide racing and sports betting to New Zealand customers. Other operators must not take those bets. This is stated in the gambling regulator’s racing policy guidance.
That makes location and product eligibility the first comparison question. An international site accepting another country’s customers, showing NZD, or covering an All Blacks match does not establish that it may accept a bet from someone in New Zealand. Casino availability is a separate issue. Read our NZ gambling law guide before applying an overseas operator’s marketing or account terms to a local situation.
How to interpret an overseas sportsbook lineup
Any overseas sportsbook names or offer figures retained in a historical comparison should be treated as descriptions of that dataset, not current NZ recommendations. A past offer does not demonstrate present availability, and a number without a currency, eligible country and terms date is incomplete. There is no reason to interpret a historical rank as regulatory approval.
Keep three questions separate: what was recorded, whether it is still accurate, and whether it is relevant to the reader’s jurisdiction. A comparison can answer the first while leaving the others unresolved. Maestro does not suggest using location workarounds, changing address details or treating an offshore account as an exception to the New Zealand framework. A familiar brand does not change the product-specific rules.
What is still useful to compare?
Understanding sportsbook terms remains useful even when a foreign lineup is not actionable. Look at the structure of the information: the legal entity, market definitions, treatment of interrupted events, account currency and complaints process. These are concrete checks that make a service’s rules easier to understand.
| Area | Question worth answering |
|---|---|
| Market wording | Does settlement include extra time or only a stated period? |
| Price | Does the decimal return include the original stake? |
| Account money | What currency is held and what can be withdrawn? |
| Dispute records | Can the bet reference and applicable rule be retrieved? |
Our online betting guide explains odds and settlement using illustrations. It does not provide picks or a system for earning an income.
A bonus headline is not a price comparison
A percentage match or a free-bet figure can distract from the underlying market and conditions. Before comparing promotional amounts, identify whether the stake is returned with winnings, which events qualify, when the credit expires and whether the offer requires additional spending. Two equal-looking amounts can describe materially different credits.
Historical offers should stay attached to their original context. Do not silently convert a foreign-currency amount into NZD or assume that a casino bonus also applies to a sportsbook. Our casino bonus guide illustrates the broader principle of reading conditions, but casino wagering maths should not be used to infer sports promotional rules. Each offer’s own terms determine what it means, and no promotion makes an otherwise unavailable service suitable for New Zealand customers.
Keep the comparison separate from a decision to bet
You can learn how odds, limits and settlement work without placing a bet. If you choose to bet through a permitted service, set a fixed amount you can afford to lose and keep transaction records. Being knowledgeable about a sport does not guarantee a profitable result, and a larger multi is not a solution to an earlier loss.

Compare the licensed operator and its in-house brand within the same permitted framework
New Zealand’s sports-betting comparison begins with provider permission. The gambling regulator’s racing policy identifies the licensed domestic operator as the only permitted racing and sports-betting operator for New Zealand customers from 28 June 2025. The gambling regulator’s player guidance includes its in-house betting brand within that domestic framework. The two names should not be counted as competing regulatory systems.
Check the brand, account contract and product separately
Permission does not establish that two branded interfaces have identical accounts, markets, promotions or support arrangements. Read each brand’s own current contract and help pages. the in-house brand’s official site identifies its parent company operating by delegated authority. That is a more relevant identity check than a logo on a comparison page.
| Comparison field | Evidence to record for each brand | Why it affects the reader |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Current terms, eligibility and verification requirements | An app installation does not complete identity checks. |
| Market | A named fixture, market definition and relevant rule | A large sport menu does not prove coverage of a specific competition. |
| Money | Available deposit and withdrawal routes, limits and charges | A deposit logo does not promise the same payout route. |
| Controls | Limits, breaks, exclusion and the scope of each control | Two brand names do not establish that every account control is shared. |
Compare only what has evidence
We have not funded or tested either account. Current rates, offers and payment times therefore need their own dated source before publication. For calculation and settlement examples, use the separate online betting learning guide.
Read the historical offshore lineup as an evidence record
The supplied sportsbook dataset contains Gambiva, Rooster.bet, 22bet, BetLabel, Ivibet, Goldenbet, Zotabet, Roby Casino, Billybets, Rabona, Casinia, BassBet, Librabet, Nomini and Spinanga. Its order records the supplied lineup, not a current ranking of lawful New Zealand betting services. No entry gains eligibility because a comparison calls it “best” or quotes a familiar local sport.
Gambiva and BetLabel: missing material stays missing
The Gambiva sports research did not recover a readable official catalogue or payment contract. BetLabel’s profile records a blocking response. Neither finding establishes a measured payout time, a verified welcome offer or the reason for the access restriction. A technical block from our research connection is also not a completed New Zealand geolocation test.
Rooster.bet and 22bet: international detail does not establish local permission
Rooster.bet’s international navigation documents product categories; 22bet’s own FAQ explains several bet-slip types. Those are useful historical product descriptions. They do not authorise either operator to accept a sports bet from a person in New Zealand. Their dedicated profiles—Rooster.bet sports and 22bet—retain that limitation.
Where an offer is absent from the NZ sports feed, the correct entry is unverified or unavailable. A foreign-currency number from a different product is not a substitute. The current domestic-provider restriction remains decisive even when an overseas page loads successfully.
Identify the product and currency before comparing an offer
Casinia: casino terms do not fill a sportsbook evidence gap
The inspected Casinia promotion is a Swiss casino offer with CHF figures and casino conditions. It cannot substantiate a New Zealand sports welcome package. Converting the headline into NZD would leave the country and product mismatches unresolved. The Casinia research profile therefore keeps catalogue observations apart from the historical sports placement.
Spinanga and Goldenbet: a familiar symbol is incomplete evidence
The international Spinanga site displays payment branding that includes Interac. That is not verification of a New Zealand payment method. Likewise, the inspected Goldenbet currency list does not explicitly establish an NZD account. A dollar symbol, a card logo and a statement that a site accepts international customers answer different questions.
Use a three-part record for any historical figure: the actual product, the eligible country and the native currency. Then attach the source date and any unresolved condition. A casino spin award, a sports bonus bet and a cash balance are different items even when their displayed amounts match.
What a useful comparison row should say
A row can state “Swiss casino promotion; CHF; excluded from NZ sports comparison” without inventing a local replacement. It can state “international payment logo; NZ availability unverified” without guessing that a method works. See Spinanga and Goldenbet for the individual evidence limits. These historical examples explain comparison errors; they are not offshore betting recommendations.
Assess a sports-betting provider in a fixed order
A consistent sequence prevents an attractive offer or interface from deciding the comparison before the basic checks are complete. For a reader located in New Zealand, permission and eligibility come first. The following is an editorial assessment procedure; it does not require placing a bet.
Six checks before considering a service
- Confirm the current New Zealand position with the gambling regulator. For sports and racing, assess services within the licensed domestic operator’s framework, including its in-house betting brand.
- Open the official brand website independently. Read its current account contract, age and identity requirements, and the entity responsible for the service.
- Choose a representative fixture to inspect. Record the sport, competition, market wording, result source and settlement period; do not substitute an overall event count.
- Inspect the account’s money terms. Distinguish its denomination from display conversion, deposit acceptance from withdrawal availability, and published limits from promotional slogans.
- Locate account controls, transaction history, support and the formal complaint process. Read the scope of limits and exclusions across brands instead of assuming they are shared.
- Record the date and source for every comparison claim. If an important field remains unverified, leave it unranked and explain the missing evidence.
Stop the comparison when eligibility fails
Librabet’s NZ-labelled rules illustrate why a local-looking URL is not a permission check. The supplied record remains historical regardless of the label. Likewise, no blocked homepage should be “repaired” with invented payment speeds or facts borrowed from a similar brand.
Keep a fixed entertainment budget outside the interface. A provider assessment is a way to understand conditions, not a system for making gambling profitable. Use support and control tools if betting starts to affect ordinary spending or wellbeing.
